There's a bloody big battle going on at Alcatraz between the Brotherhood and the X-Men. Events have come to a climax as Magneto gets stabbed with four shots of the cure by Beast.

In the midst of the fight, it appears that nearly everyone has forgot (including the director and screenwriters) about Jean, who has been watching over the preceedings. Now she joins in, and pretty much goes psycho. By that I mean she uses her abilities to disintergrate everything in her path, including several unlucky mutants.

It appears only one mutant can stop her. Here's a clue - he can regenerate. Not enough? He can sprout claws. Yes, the correct answer is Wolverine, who tells the rest of the X-Men to get out of there.

Wolverine starts to approach Jean, with clothing and flesh pealing away to expose parts of his adamantium skeleton. Lucky for Wolverine, each time the flesh is torn away, it regenerates.

Eventually Wolverine gets up to Jean and she asks "would you die for them?" Wolverine tearfully responds "Not for them, for you!" A bit of the old Jean peaks out and asks Wolverine to kill her, which he does by stabbing her with his claws. Holding her body, he yells in sadness.

A little bit anti-climatic considering it took a tidal wave to take Jean down before.
