A woman will stop at nothing to get a new pair of shoes! Such is the plot of The Wizard of Oz, where the Wicked Witch of the West spots Dorothy wearing a nice pair of ruby slippers, which she had in turn liberated from the Wicked Witch of the East (q.v.).
Wanting the slippers for herself, The Wicked witch of the West subjects Dorothy and her friends to a sustained series of mildly perilous events, culminating in flying apes taking Dorothy and her friends to the witch's castle. Having Dorothy and her companions cornered within the castle, the witch decides to get rid of them all, starting with the Scarecrow.
She sets her broom on fire from a candle, and lights the Scarecrow's arm. With a bit of quick thinking, Dorothy grabs a conveniently placed bucket of water to douse the flames, but inadvertantly hits the witch in the face with the water.
To ordinary folk this would be a mild inconvenience, but for some reason water is like acid to this witch, and she dissolves, screaming in agony. It does beg the question why on earth she would have such a deadly liquid in her castle at all...
Anyway, freed of her tyranny, the soldiers hail Dorothy as their liberator. "Ding, dong, the witch is dead...."
In my mind this does not deserve a 90%, a classic it may be, but I found it rather overdramatic.
Should this be "Acid"? The water is most definitely caustic to the witch. How about "Vanishing Corpse" too?
I submitted this too. Great minds think alike~!
Of course her corpse vanished. She MELTED!
In case anyone wants to know, the soldiers are called "Winkies". I kid you not. Winkies.
