When blind village resident Ivy Walker is journeying through the forests bordering the village to reach an outside town, in order to retrieve the proper medical supplies for Lucius, she suddenly discovers she is not as alone as her father, one of the elders, had assured her she would be. Lucius’ injuries were sustained earlier in the film thanks to Noah, a mentally handicapped young man who is jealous of Ivy's affections for him.
Earlier, Ivy was told the truth behind the mysterious monsters that supposedly lurked in the forest: that they were really the elders in disguise, to scare the villagers enough to be afraid to enter the woods (to dissuade others from leaving the village for the world outside). With the knowledge that the monsters in the woods were not real, it appears that Ivy has nothing to worry about.
Unfortunately, moments later this changed and Ivy is certain that the cloaked figure standing nearby is indeed one of the creatures, indicating they may be real after all. Frightened, Ivy attempts to hide behind a tree, only to wind up directly in front of the creature, which seems intent on harming her. It emits a low snarl and the creature charges at her, but Ivy manages to pick the right direction to run just in time and the creature runs past her. Ivy is still being chased when she comes across the pit she had nearly fallen into earlier. As the creature makes one more attempt to kill her, Ivy moves out of the way just in time and the creature then falls into the pit.
We cut back to the village, where Noah's parents find a hole in their floorboards, and are horrified to discover that Noah has found one of their “suits" and he is nowhere to be found. We then cut back to the forest, and discover that the creature Ivy had encountered was actually Noah, who had followed her into the forest donning one of the monster costumes the elders used. The impact of the fall has mortally wounded him, and after a few moments, he dies from his injuries.
The actor playing Noah is actually "Adrien Brody", not "Adrian Bridy"... just some healthy nitpicking!
Cheers for this, nothing wrong with a bit of nitpicking, it keeps us honest
I have updated accordingly.
The acctual name of "Noah Perry" is Noah Percy.
