Dracula is far more powerful then any vampire, seemingly unbeatable to the point he is even immune to vampiric weaknesses his brides are susceptible to. However, Van Helsing's sidekick/partner Friar Carl discovers a prophecy in Anna's family estate that explains how a werewolf's bite is the only thing that can destroy Dracula, which proves to be a very useful discovery indeed!
With Van Helsing himself being bitten by a werewolf during the course of this adventure, it falls to him alone to stop the Count. However, there is a catch (that damned small print!): Van Helsing must cure himself of the curse before midnight or Dracula will be able to control him.
Van Helsing and Dracula finally face off. As is usual in these action films, Van Helsing is no match for the Count, who can assume the form of a giant bat-like demon. The tables inevitably turn though when the full moon unveils itself from behind the clouds. At this point, Van Helsing transforms into a vicious werewolf and violently attacks Dracula, who, for the first time in his centuries of existence, has met his match.
Dracula attempts to reason with the now lupine Van Helsing, presumably to stall him long enough for midnight to pass, so he can control our hero. The werewolf is not a beast of reason though, and attacks Dracula again, getting close to defeating him. Fate intervenes at this point and the moon is shrouded by clouds again, causing Van Helsing to revert to human form, giving Dracula the advantage again.
Dracula wastes it though as he taunts Van Helsing, justifying his actions, instead of killing him. This inaction gives Van Helsing the time to transform once again, and Dracula sustains even more punishment from the werewolf. Finally, the transformed Van Helsing manages to pin Dracula against some ruined lab equipment and bites into his neck. The werewolf curse, which normally spreads the disease into other humans, is highly poisonous to a vampire such as Dracula, making the wound fatal. As a result, the Count's body begins to rot and decay away into a pile of bone and ash.
This was such a cool death.
