Trekkies who loathe the character of Wesley Crusher will enjoy this little known death. Our hero manfully grabs a machine gun and surprises several armed terrorists. Before he can rack up a single kill though, he panics and they recover enough initiative to riddle him with several hundred bullets. A most enjoyable (and utterly pointless) death.
(Wil Wheaton is actually quite a cool guy, check out his website at www.wilwheaton.net)
Just wanna say this death is not pointless, as it leads Joey's mob boss father, Albert Trotta, to order the death of Luis Cali's father Enrique Cali in revenge, which leads to Luis going totally nutso towards the end of the film and attempting to blow the school up. Also, Joey's death strengthens his friends to make a better effort against the terrorists. So, Joey's demise did have a point.
You make fair points.
I was going to argue by saying "The 'Pointless' category is based on the character's motivation, not future consequences that they couldn't possibly forsee" - but then I reread my own definition for the category and discovered that I was wrong - I hate that.
I'll therefore remove the Pointless icon

Late-breaking discovery. I rewatched the movie recently, and Joey's killer would appear to be the terrorist named Jorge, played by Jerry Valdez. After Joey is shot, Luis Cali yells "Jorge!" in a rage at his trigger-happy subordinate.
Not that poor Jorge had much of a choice. It was either return fire or allow Joey to ventilate him. Plus he appeared to be unaware of Cali's decree that Joey be unharmed (which is probably the only reason Cali doesn't invoke his right as Main Baddy to kill his own Minor Baddy).
"Shot" should definitely be added seeing as how a cinema gunfight can in fact lead to no one being shot (Just watch The A Team XP), and his archtype should be put up too, especially seeing as he is referred to as "Our hero" XD.
