Erin's relief of escaping Leatherface in the meat factory is short-lived, when she discovers the truck she has just hitched a ride with is heading right over to where her nightmarish experience started. She begs the driver to stop and, after some struggling with her, he does at the gas station. Erin is all too aware the cannibal family runs this place, and she sees the psychotic Sheriff Hoyt's car parked outside.

While the truck driver goes in to phone for help, Sheriff Hoyt heads outside to the truck to find Erin and finish her off. He opens the door to the truck and finds...she’s not there!

Erin has quietly sneaked into his unattended police car and hotwired it. Before Hoyt even sees it coming, she speeds toward him, ramming Hoyt at full speed. This doesn't seem to kill him though and so Erin puts the car in reverse and runs him over again, and then puts the car back into gear and runs him over one last time, for good measure. Third time lucky proves to be enough to end the Sheriff’s life.
