The Enterprise has been decommissioned and is about to be replaced by the more "superior" Excelsior. Kirk and his most trusted crewmembers need to get to Planet Genesis, because fallen comrade Spock must be found. To do this, they steal the Enterprise in one of the film's best moments and leave the sabotaged Excelsior behind.
But a Klingon Bird of Prey intercepts the Enterprise and surrender seems the only option for Kirk. Well, almost...
The Klingon's accept Kirk's surrender, and are given permission to come aboard. But because it's only Kirk and a few others on board, they activate the ship's self-destruct mechanism and head for the transporter room.
Captain Kruge commands his lieutenant, Torg, to lead the boarding party, not expecting to find a deserted ship. Kirk and the others beam down to the planet as Torg's men beam aboard. Finding their way to the bridge, Torg is baffled and reports, "The ship appears to be deserted, but there is something speaking..."
That "something" is the last five seconds of the computer's countdown and as Kruge leaps to his feet shouting "Get out of there!" the boarding party, and the entire ship is destroyed.
And where did Kruge think Torg was supposed to go? Or was he hoping that whoever was manning the transporters would be alert enough to hear Kruge screaming and pull them off the doomed starfleet vessel at the last second?
Probably just a reflex action. He didn't actually believe Torg would get out, he just felt the need to SHOUT SOMETHING!!!!!.
What probably went through Torg's mind was "S***, WE'RE DEAD!"
