Joe Leon has already lost his son Tomas to rent-a-bomber Ray Quick, who killed May Munro's family.
However, he is also on the hitlist because he was the person who gave the original order.
I must admit I'm a bit sketchy on the details of this final scene in the film, as I'd lost almost all attention by this point.
However, as far as I could tell, Joe is going through his post and for some reason thinks that Quick has been killed, for which he gives thanks to god. The next envelope he opens though, contains a single locket, which when opened contains an old photo of a young May and her parents.
Now this is an extremely suspicious item to be sent through the post, but maybe Joe doesn't think it's possible to fit a deadly amount of explosive into such a tiny piece of jewellery. If he did think this I'd have to agree with him - but we'd both be wrong as Quick's device easily blasts the old man into atoms.
Editor Note: I mean seriously, this locket could at most hold perhaps a quarter teaspoon of sugar. If stuff this deady exists in real life then I *really* hope terrorists can't get their hands on it! And another thing, why did May feel the need to get one of the few mementos she has of her parents vaporised along with Leon? If it was me I'd have taken a copy and sent it in a cheap photo frame!
