Homer Simpson and his son, Bart, have just managed to remove the bomb that was intended to turn Springfield into the "New Grand Canyon", and it detonates above the dome instead. This not only saves the town, but causes the dome itself to crack, and rain huge shards of plexiglass down on top of all our favourite characters.
Sadly for Dr Nick, it is he who picked the short straw when the Simpsons writers decided which character to kill off.
There is of course only one line the well liked Doctor can say when he is thoroughly impaled to the ground by a splinter of glass that is bigger than he is:
"Bye, everybody!" (A parody of his catchphrase, "Hi Everybody, I'm Dr. Nick!")
However, according to Wikipedia, Dr Nick will be brought back from the grave in the future, so medical malpractise lawyers in Springfield may not lose their top earner after all.
