Details submitted by That Kid Steve

The least likeable character in the film (including the zombies) gets the most satisfying death. David has been acting like a right git in the pub - completely insensitive to Shaun being forced to shoot his own mother in the head, and even, at one point, aiming a loaded rifle at Shaun!

When everyone, even his girlfriend Dianne, turns against him, David begins to back away towards the window. Dianne scolds him, and tells him to apologise to Shaun, but before he gets the chance to utter a word, zombies crash through the window, pull him out and begin to tear him limb from limb.

Hahaha the silly twat deserves it, im suprised the zombies didn't quickly shove him back in

Yep, if a douche bag has to go out, make it as pitiful and gory and painful and non-martyr-able as possible, I always say.

You people are so STUPID!!! You fail to realise that David isnt a 'twat' or anything like that! He was going to shoot Shauns mum because she was becoming a zombie and everyone in the bar was too stupid to realise that except him! By them yelling at him they just wasted time and shuans mum came back to life and shaun ended up having to shoot her...If they had just let david do it when she was dead it woulnt have been quite so bad!!! David was only doing what was nessasary! He shouldnt have died!!!...thats my two cents smiling smiley[/bgcolor]

I sort of agree with you Fox girl, David was the cold hard face of logic in the film, but i think anyone would be rightly upset with him for suggesting that they have to blow their own mums head off!!

Indeed. The last thing you want to hear is that you have to shoot your mother's head off, or that you "did the right thing there" after doing it yourself. I think Shaun punching David is justified, as he should have just kept his mouth shut, but then when David picks up the rifle and actually fires it at Shaun (It's not cocked, so it doesn't actually shoot him, but the fact he intended to kill Shaun still stands) his death is pretty much justified as well. Plus he attempted to open the door of the pub and let the zombies in anyway, so he was as good as dead either way.

This should also go under Devoured and Dismemberment.
Comment 7 by 'rusty' (reply to this comment)
Dylan Moran is the sex and deserves no death at all, the end.
Comment 8 by 'Iellwen' (reply to this comment)
I agree with K. This death needs more categories. Perhaps "monster" as well
Comment 9 by 'Kooshmeister' (reply to this comment)
I guess we gotta ask ourselves whether zombies qualify as monsters or not. When you really think about it, a zombie in the basic sense, undead or otherwise, is just a mentally screwed-up, physically decaying person. It always bugs me in zombie films when the characters readily refer to them as "things" or "creatures" when they are still completely human, just acting differently.
Comment 10 by 'Iellwen' (reply to this comment)
Many monsters in movies used to be people, though, and we still consider them monsters.
Comment 11 by 'Kooshmeister' (reply to this comment)
Well what I mean is, in those other cases they usually transform somehow. Zombies remain entirely human in appearance and biology, just not in behavior.
Comment 12 by 'Mr. Briggs Incorporated' (reply to this comment)
Not in behavior eh, Steve? Then how do you explain the Re-Animator? Or the Return of the Living Dead series? Or this little film?

In response to all the comments on how Dave was a good guy and should have survived, I believe, no, no he shouldn't although rusty makes a good point.
Comment 13 by 'Kooshmeister' (reply to this comment)
All the zombies in Re-Animator become mindless flesheaters. The only one who does not is Dr. Carl Hill, but then again he merely becomes undead, not actually a zombie; his will and intellect are far too strong for him to revert to mindlessness.
Comment 14 by 'Matt' (reply to this comment)
As far as I know, David wasn't decapitated (as it says in the report), he had his intestines ripped out. Unless I missed something...
Comment 15 by 'Omega' (reply to this comment)
Actually, you did miss something. After David's intestines were ripped out, the zombies snap off his arms and legs and, if you pay attention, you can see his head being pulled off from what remained of his body and taken into the crowd of zombies.
Comment 16 by 'Matt' (reply to this comment)
Ah. At least we know that we need Dismemberment too...

Comment 18 by 'Matt' (reply to this comment)
The DVD contains an extended version of this scene in the 'Missing Bits' section. David actually apologizes to Shaun before his demise.
Comment 19 by 'Eno' (reply to this comment)
Yeah, they removed that scene because they thought it made his death too sympathetic... I just think it's one of those things that he kinda deserved it and kinda didn't. I'm not the type to say someone deserves to die, but let's be honest; Shaun's step-dad didn't really deserve to die either, and it's not as though Shaun and co. were going "Yeah, eat his guts zombies!" They were just as horrified and attempted to save him as well.
Comments for death : Shaun of the Dead: David (Dylan Moran).
he got wat he deserved, definatly. but i dont think that being eatin by zombies would be the best punishment. but who asked me??? lol i felt srry for diane tho =(
Comment 21 by 'james stockdale' (reply to this comment)
david shouldve stayed away from the window its his own fault for going to close to get his guts ripped out
Comment 22 by 'B.R.' (reply to this comment)
What I couldn't get is how stupid this guy was. If memory serves, then he was standing right beside the open window when they took him. I mean, he saw and heard the zombies, so what the hell is wrong with him?
Comment 23 by 'jesus' (reply to this comment)
Dylan Moran is indeed the sex rusty. He should have spent the movie naked on a silver platter, not being torn up.
