This is a truly unique death in which a man in a massage parlour (one that offers happy endings) is forced by John Doe (q.v.) to put on a peculiar device - a strap on dildo with a knife in place of the phallus.
The man is then forced by gunpoint by Doe to have sex with the "masseuse", and it does not take a genius to work out what the result is - the thrusting action slices her genitals to shreds, killing her. By the time the police arrive, there is a man sitting on the bed, obviously distressed, sobbing and shouting "Get this thing off me!"
Fortunately we are spared seeing this rather inventive death as it happened, instead we are told about it in retrospective.
Would "Offscreen" not be appropriate?
This one never made sense to me in terms of the killer's m.o./motive...since he was punishing the "Seven Deadly Sins," wouldn't it have been more logical for him to kill the hooker's CLIENT? After all, he's the one committing the sin of lust, not the hooker (who's just doing it for the money).
He is punishing the client. He'll have to forever live with the knowledge of his role in the hooker's murder.
I saw the Se7en comic for this death, what with the lady having herself cut from vagina to neck, and now whenever I think of a hot lady, this death sends lightning up my spine. Very, very, very chilling indeed. YUUUUUHHHHHHHHHHH...But for my favorite death in Se7en, that'd have to be Eli Gould, the sin of Greed, yes? Since he's the one who caused the most evil with the sins and the way Doe made him do the Merchant of Venice pound of flesh thing was really something else, especially since he deserved every second of the agonizing cutting for his avarice evil.
