Roman Bridger is Sydney's long lost brother who is also the real killer behind this franchises grisly murders. Like most serial killers, his homicidal tendencies stem from a deprived childhood, having been being rejected by his mother at an early age.

During the final fight with Sydney, Roman gets stabbed twice in the back by her using an ice pick. As she leans over his dying body, Sydney makes reference to the film Roman was making, "Stab 3". On cue with delivering this line, she rams the ice pick into his chest and Roman dies. At this point, Sydney is joined by Dewey and Gail.

However, no Wes Craven horror film would be complete without the obligatory "he's not quite dead" scene, and Roman jumps up and charges at the friends.

Dewey fires an inordinate amount of bullets into Roman's body, but these seem to be having no effect. When Sydney suggests he shoot Roman in the head, Dewey obliges and this super villain is finally vanquished.
