Creed's swansong was always going to end badly, but Drago is far too doped up with steroids to shed any tears. As he philosphically declaims in an accent with all the warmth and personality of the KGB's speaking clock, "If he dies, he dies".

Poor Apollo Creed, He should've kicked Ivan's butt with a knockout while he had the chance!

LOL, what do you mean? Apollo never stood a chance. 20 blows from Apollo didn“t match a single one from Drago. He was never able to punch hard enough to overcome even Rocky, let alone a steroid machine.
Comment 3 by 'Matt' (reply to this comment)
Yeah, particularly as a punch from Drago is apparently more powerful than most handguns (!).

Drago couldn't punch hard enough to knock out Rocky. Apollo's style was just wrong for fighting Drago, he'd have kicked Clubber Lang's butt though.
Comment 5 by 'Michael' (reply to this comment)
Apollo's style was more for fast, semi-powerful punches. In Rocky III he brings that out, saying that Rocky needed to be faster, if he was going to take out Clubber Lang. but Drago would have needed both extremely heavy hits and incredible speed. Creed could only firmly supply one of those.

It doesnt help that Creed himself was a boaster, too headstrong and cocky. that was his primary reason for his loss.

Apollo Creed mentioned to Rocky that "you may not know what I'm talking about now, but you will when its over....Believe me...you will when its OVER" along with Apollo's patriotic character in the past indicates he knew he was going to die. This movie was filmed during the late cold war era, East against West, which brought a true meaning to Apollo's plot in Rocky 4. Apollo demonstrated himself as a frontman in the line of war, to warn Rocky and the rest of the world what is going to happen to the West unless something is done about it. Creed's death was a real tradgety, but also a valuable death and lesson.

First of all Apollo Creed didn't have a fair fight age or not.Apollo Creed loved to pick on his opponents
and clearly beat them in the ring. But Drago was juiced up.How does a man fight fair like that. But
wearing the red, white and blue and the awesome cheers Apollo was given. That was pretty exciting.
I think we were all rooting for the master of disaster'My favorite line was Rocky asking Apollo got enough
names?"Hold on Stallion were almost done."and "Time to go to school chump."If I wrote Rocky IV
Apollo would of won.But Apollo died a warrior and thats how a champion fights-to the end.
