Whilst hunting down Robocop in the film's end sequence, Joe becomes the first victim of the battle. He is shot by Robocop, and is then used by Nash (q.v.) as a shield when more bullets rain down.

There is no honour among thieves, as once the shooting stops, Nash lets go of Joe and leaves him to die in the dirt.
