No, the point of this was to show that the raptors were smart enough to set a trap! The whole movie revolved around the fact that they were smarter than they appeared, and they definitely didn't have "peanut sized brains." this scene is to show that they are good at killing, and according to the rules for the category, those aren't allowed.

No, the raptors set the trap without killing Udesky. Only his being wounded was tied to the "raptors are smart" angle. Because he dies after it is established that it was a trap, his death is pointless. The raptors killing him is without purpose because it paints them as evil, sadistic jerks, which is forgotten about later on when the writers ask the audience to feel sympathy for the raptors ("they just want their eggs back," etc.).

Besides, Udesky's demise is so drawn out and uncomfortable to watch that it draws attention to the fact it didn't need to be so awful; there was no reason this character had to suffer and then get his neck broken as an afterthought. I don't mind brutal, sadistic deaths, but only when they serve a purpose in the story, which Udesky's doesn't for the above reasons, and therefore I'll fight to keep it in the "Pointless" category.

I would reccommend however changing this to "Animal," as the raptors are not monsters.

Indeed, the Raptors obviously did exist once, (unless you're my father, who believes dinosaurs never existed, the moon landing was staged, and the French are the terrorists.) thus, they are animals. Also, "Hacked" "Slashed" and "Devoured" may apply, though you will have to verify.

You're right Kooshmeiter, I take back what I said. But in response to Mr. Briggs Inc., I'm pretty sure they didn't end up devouring him. (making this death even more pointless if i'm remembering right)

Yeah, they just killed him and left him there. Incidentally, where's that "Broken Neck" category? This death fits it perfectly. XD

Perhaps the lengthy "Spinal Chord Trauma" for those victims of the medieval rack. Since Slash was the icon for "Slashed," Heath Ledger can be the icon for "Spinal Chord Trauma".

Welcome back, MouseBluffer, slow week?

The raptors tortured him to see if they could lure the humans down to try to assist him. When they saw it wasn't working, they killed him. Presumably they didn't eat him because their intent was to use him as a decoy, but as this movie was packed with plot holes(the invincible cell-phone whose ringer could be heard far away from within a dinosaur's belly, anyone? Or how 'bout the sheltered city kid who miraculously survived 8 weeks on this island while trained soldiers expired in hours), it raises the question as to why they didn't just settle for eating HIM when they realized they wouldn't get any additions to their dinner.
