Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery: Mustafa (Will Ferrell)

I'd suggest "Cheating Death" since Mustafa returns in the sequel, but that's only because Austin travels back to the 60s.

Incidentally this would seem to create an interesting paradox; Mustafa actually survives his fall off the cliff (even though Dr. Evil says two of his assassins are dead, neither Mustafa nor Robin Swallows actually perished) as demonstrated by the end-of-the-credits extra scene. And since he was sent to kill Austin by the Dr. Evil from the future, while Dr. Evil of the past is still frozen within his Bob's Big Boy rocket orbiting Earth, and the future Dr. Evil remains in the 60s while Austin returns to the 90s, this would conceivably change events so that the past Mustafa would continue working for the futue-Evil-in-the-past and therefore conceivably avoid the fate of his future self from the original timeline.

My head hurts. And to think they actually made an effort to avoid us thinking about this stuff. "Just sit back and enjoy the ride," indeed.

I always thought of it as past Mustafa barely survives and comes back to work for Dr. Evil in the future, thus eliminating "Cheating Death" (Unless you use said category for the sequel)

Speaking of, How old is Mustafa anyway? What the Heck is a "Mustafa"? Why is it correctly spelled "musts"? Did Will Feral fund Halloween?

Those questions aside, wouldn't it be fun to see how the other executed baddies from the beginning fit in to the plot?

What do you mean? Isn't "Mustafa" an actual Arabic/Middle Eastern name? Anyway he has a full name, given in a book sold around the time the movie came out, but I forget what it is.

I'm unsure about his age, though, but he's obviously very old because he has grey hair and all. I think the real question is, how old is Nigel Powers supposed to be. XD

And with regards to the other guys Dr. Evil snuffs out earlier in the first movie, they're the best assassins in the world according to Evil's dialogue, and if you look at the control panel, which always has the names of the people next to the "insta-kill" buttons, you can see what their names are: Jurgen (the dentist), Generalissimo (the army guy), Don Luigi (the guy with a hook), and Rita (by process of - yuck-yuck! - elimination, the woman).

I actually submitted them all (complete with the uncredited actors) recently when I went on my Austin Powers submitting spree. The only one I didn't get one for Generalismo (that's how it's spelt) because IMDb doesn't have the actor who played him. Because of this, I put him in the Jurgen write-up.

I'm pretty sure that if Mustafa from the 60s came back from his fall (let's just say he did), then that wouldn't change Mustafa in the 90s. He had already designed and sent off the Big Boy rocket leading to his demise.

Actually, I just remembered, Mustafa was originally going to be in Goldmember but his scenes were deleted. This was as late as an issue of Entertainment Weekly about the movie, although I'm unsure why the scenes weren't in the DVD. So unless he was supposed to appear in the segment set in the 70s, there's a good chance he's still kicking. (Although this does not change the fact he dies in International Man of Mystery).

Are No. 2 and (ugh) the Oddjob guy counted as dead? What category did you use for Alotta *****?

I think Mustafa should link to S.P.E.C.T.R.E. No. 9 and vice-versa. As for categories, I think It should be "Execution" and not "Death-trap" unless Mustafa didn't know about the chair (which he admits he does.)

Number Two I didn't do (but I will now, seeing as he's an ideal candidate for 'Cheating Death'). Random Task (the Oddjob guy) I counted as dead, seeing as he doesn't return (usually, any surviving members of Dr. Evil's crew will return for the next film). I didn't realize Alotta Fagina (as it is spelt) actually died until I just popped in the DVD - it appears Vanessa gives her a throat chop. I guess that counts as Asphyxiation and maybe Martial Arts (it is the fictional Judo Chop, after all).

Execution I think should be added (I forgot that one), but Death Trap I hope stays, as it was a trap for any members who have failed Dr. Evil.

I'm kinda glad Mustafa did not appear in Goldmember. As much as I am a fan of Ferrell, he would ruin continuity if he wasn't in the 70s scene and there was no need for him in the film. Also it was a recycled gag from The Spy Who Shagged Me where he had to answer a question if it was asked a certain amount of times (except it was 4, instead of 3 this time), which Goldmember had more than enough of. The only reason I know is that the scene is briefly detailed in 'The World Of Austin Powers' book, along with Felicity Shagwell's deleted scene from Goldmember.
