Similar to the death of Commodus in Gladiator, this death was a long time coming, and was fittingly brutal and gory. The hero is battered, brusied, and nearly broken, with his opponent with a nearly full advantage, when suddenly a final push from the protagonist lends him the strength to end the onslaught in his favor. Besides, who doesn't love killing a bad guy with a knife plunged slowly into his throat? It's painful, relatively slow, and very, very personal and satisfying. Everything the body needs.

I think this might be Revenge. Tavington killed two of Martin's sons.

I would've loved to shoot him the the thing with a rifle.

This death is missing a few categories.

Shot: If I remember the scene correctly, Martin shot Tavington in the shoulder.

Melee: Due to the fact that they're fighting in the middle of the Battle of Cowpens.

Revenge: Tavington murdered his sons which is pretty much the entire reason why they fought in the first place.
