Um ... The death talked about here is that of Dupont (played by Angus McFadyen). Dupont masquerades as Father, who is really nothing but a screen image and voice (those done by Jon Pertwee.) Christian Kahrmann plays another character entirely. You can check this at the fansite run by a score of die-hard EQ buffs:

Is he made of sand? Why does he explode sand when he's shot?

That's just for "effect" of the bullet impact, I believe.

Are any of you sure that's Kahrmann playing Father?
Just to clarify, that is Angus MacFayden playing the part. And he is not technically "Father". His name is Vice Council Dupont. On the surface, he is considered to be "Father's Voice". "Father" was seen quite frequently, but only via hologram and screens throughout the city. Nobody ever truly saw Father in person throughout the film. As we later learned, "Father" actually perished several years prior, however this was kept a secret to preserve his image, and to serve as protection for the real person was who was running Libria. And that was Dupont.

Is it really really bothering anybody else that Christian Kahrmann didn't play the character whose death is being described? Cause it's really really bothering me. Father or DuPont or whatever we want to call this character was played by Angus MacFadyen. Check it on IMDb. Check it anywhere. My eyes don't deceive me. You even have pictures of him. That's definitely Angus MacFadyen. Whoever corrected you the first time, did so incorrectly.
