Ugh. I have a real hard time watching this death. It must be the fact I liked Lumpy or I hate things with inner jaws (reason #1 for not watching the Alien Quadrilogy, reason #2 facehuggers...). The only time I've watched a death and had to shut my eyes. It really got nasty. In fact, I have a hard time just viewing the screenshots. Yuck. The score here is brilliant, though, it's reallybleak and did increase the tension.

This goes in my book as most horrific movie death of all time. Being eaten by a gigantic carnivorous dog-penis.

Just watched the "Return to Skull Island" featurette on the Extended Edition, and they go into some detail about this scene. Apparently, in order to have the "penises" (as the interviewed describe them) rise up from the mud, they needed to film giant blue phalluses (don't ask) rising up from mud, which they would then replace. As you can expect, there was uncontrollable laughter on set. Meanwhile, Serkis, who had shot the scene on green screen, had no idea what to expect until he saw it at the New York premiere. When he did, he was "pissing" himself laughing. Afterwards, his son asked, "daddy, what does it look like inside those things?"

Sounds like a barrel of laughs all around. Except for those in the audience...

You know, I actually scroll down each time the page loads so I don't encounter Lumpy's.
