Jaws would on the face of it be a likely contender for a remake - it was hugely popular and is old.
But, I think it has possibly been *too* influential. It spawned a whole slew of similar films, and has been parodied to death. I think modern audiences are just too jaded to be all that excited by a film featuring just one measly shark!
Also, there have been about a million "Shark" documentaries on the Discovery channel since then, insisting in boring detail how sharks don't behave like the one seen in Jaws, which also lessens the fear of even a Great White. That's why modern films have to have
genetically-super-modified sharks in order to try and generate a bit of peril.
Mouseburger is far more of a Jaws fan than me, so I'll leave a casting list up to him.
