Famous last words

I was thinking today; seeing as most of the deaths here are notable characters, why not feature their last words as well? Imagine it below "Killed by:".

Not all last words will be as good as others, but even ones not directly related to the death might become unintentionally funny. smiling smiley

Hi Roland

Not sure what you mean. Are you talking about the last quip the hero delivers after brutally killing someone, thereby making their death funny, and show that he is not a heartless git?! If so, then yes, this is a good suggestion. I think we do it to a certain extent in the write ups.

For example,

I think he means a section for the last words, if any, of the victim. Be they ironic, overly cocky, or otherwise.

I was being a tad vague winking smiley I meant the victim.

Shouldn't these usually be provided by the write-up? Seems a tad pointless to me.

This is a good idea. I'd suggest that it be an optional field, however, since some characters don't really have last words worth mentioning.

"Aargh!" Is a common last wordsmiling smiley

If we add a "last words" field we could get the boffins to show a random quote on the front page, linking to the death (like we do at the moment with the random pic).

...Mind you, a lot are likely to be unoriginal one liners, like "f***" or "s***".
A search in the MDDB for "last words" gives the following to start with:

"Stay Gold" - Outsiders, The, Johnny Cade (Ralph Macchio)

"It won't make the slightest difference to me, Doug, but the consequences to you will be devastating. In your mind, I'll be dead, and with no one to guide you out, you'll be stuck in permanent psychosis. The walls of reality will come crashing down. One minute, you're the saviour of the rebel cause, next thing you know you'll be Cohaagen's bosom buddy. You'll even have fantasies about alien civilizations, as you requested, but in the end, back on Earth, you'll be lobotomized! So get a grip on yourself, Doug, and put down that gun!" - Total Recall, Doctor Edgemar (Roy Brocksmith)
(his actual last words may have just been "swallow" though!)

"You didn't leave me one either." - Wisdom, John Wisdom (Emilio Estevez)

I'm not convinced Mouse or I fully transcribed the last lines of the following two deaths correctly winking smiley :
Star Trek: Generations, Captain James Kirk (William Shatner)
Deep Blue Sea, Russell Franklin (Samuel L Jackson)

And this great line! :
"From hell's heart I stab at thee...for hate's sake I spit my last breath at thee." - Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, Khan Noonien Singh (Ricardo Montalban)

We need Yoda's and Vader's last lines too.
Re: Famous last words

Vader's is "Tell your sister you were right. You were right."

I must say that this seems a bit too much on the write-up page, but maybe as a randomizer on the front page, it would work.

"Evacuate? In our moment of triumph? You overestimate their chances." - Grand Moff Tarkin

"Intensify the forward batteries, I don't want anything to get through. Intensify forward firepower!" - Admiral Piett
("Too late!" is a nice capper to Piett's orders, too bad Piett isn't the one who says it.)

"Lord Vader, the fleet has moved out of lightspeed and we're preparing to-- Urk!" - Admiral Ozzel

"That's the idea. I've been looking forward to this for a long time." - Greedo

I may be against the idea, but here's a few examples.

Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery:
"Nooooooooooooo!!!! Ah! Ah! Ahhhhhhh!" - Steamroller Guard
"You shot me! You shot me right in the eye! Why did you-" - Mustafa

"It's showtime!" - Phil Connors, Groundhog Day

"Yes, of course you're right, Bruce. You've always been a good friend. Thank You." - Two-Face, Batman Forever

Star Trek: Generations:
"Get away from that launcher!" - Soren
"Oh my..." - Captain Kirk

"What was it you said to me? Ah yes. 'Yippie Ki Yay, motherf**ker.'" - Hans Gruber, Die Hard

"Happy landings, asshole!" - Maj. Grant, Die Hard 2

"Your brain presses against your skull and it feels like THIS!" - Deakins, Broken Arrow

X-Men:
"You owe me a scream" - Sabretooth
"Don't you people ever die!?" - Toad
"Well, I think you have one less person to be afraid of" - Senator Kelly

The Fifth Element:
"Oh no..." - Zorg
"I promise it will never happen again" - Right Arm

Doom:
"Sempi Fi, motherf**ker! Faithful to the corps, John." - Sarge
"Go to hell" - The Kid

Mission: Impossible:
"Jim, don't!" - Claire
"Then I got a serious problem" - Jack

"You are not Dimitri?" - Nekhorvich, Mission: Impossible II

"You think water's fast? You should see ice. It moves like it has a mind. Like it knows it killed the world once and it got a taste for murder. When the avalanche came, it took us a week to climb out. Now, I don't know exactly when we turned on each other, but I know that seven of us survived the slide... and only five made it out. Now we took an oath, that I'm breaking now. We said we'd say it was the snow that killed the other two, but it wasn't. Nature is lethal but it doesn't hold a candle to man. You've seen how bad things can get and how quick they can get that way. Well, they can get a whole lot worse! So we're NOT GONNA FIGHT ANY MORE! We're all going to pull together and find a way to get out of here! First seal the--" - Franklin, Deep Blue Sea

Goldeneye:
"Wait your turn" - Xenia
"Yes, I am INVINCIBLE!" - Boris
"For England, James?" - Janus/Alec

"No, no, there's a difference between us. You have faith. I don't." - Strannix, Under Siege

"Aargh!" Is a common last word

True enough.

Kahn's last words might also be more common than many folks realize... :teacher:

There's a lot of good last-lineage in the Final Destination franchise. All along the same lines as each other.

Final Destination:
"If you two insist on beating the sh** out of each other every time you see each other, then you can just drop f***ing dead!" -Terry Chaney

"You're dead! You're dead! And you ain't taking me with you!" -Billy Hitchcock

Final Destination 2:
"Man, I'm lucky." -Evan Lewis

"It's okay, Eugene. Everything's gonna be okay!" -Clear Rivers

Final Destination 3:
"Woo! What'd I tell you? F*** death! That's all I know how to do. Maybe all I know how to do is win!" -Lewis Romero

"You see? I'm not gonna die! It's you, Wendy! You're dead!" -Ian McKinley

---------------
"You know, I never understood these elaborate tortures. It's the simplest thing to cause more pain than a man can possibly endure. And of course, it's not only the immediate agony, but the knowledge that if you do not yield soon enough, there will be little left to identify you as a man. The only question remains, will you yield in time?" - Le Chiffre, Casino Royale
