New Categories Needed

We so need Myocardial Infarction (the medical term for a heart attack).

Briggs has also suggested Defenstration (the act of throwing someone through a window) as a category. The villian actually has to be thrown through a window, rather than say, being dropped from a height onto a window.

No I didn't! I was only being sarcastic, I think defenestration is very well covered by just "Falling". Also IMO I thik cardiac arrest is covered by disease, but I'm a bit more flexible about that.

What we do need as a category is that "Alternate Death Scene", which I believe I definitely need before I begin writing up the 2003 Willard! (I'm doing both FTR)

Ah. Just a suggestion, then.

Heart attacks can be just as easily be brought under a range of causes. Plus, it's not really in the spirit of Disease.

Thoughts on the icons?

Matt's right with regards to Disease. Heart attacks can be caused by external forces (fright, stress, etc.), making Disease only an indirect cause of the death.

Or, to be more to the point, even though a heart attack is illness-related, if I were to write up, say, Jonathan Kent's death from Superman, I think it would look weird without the category "Heart Attack."

Space - The final frontier... Of your life if you end up being thrown into it.

Would be very good for Sci-Fi films where this a common occurance.

And how about heart attack/disease, MB?

Now I'm sure that's covered by "Asphyxiation" and "Freezing"

Just seems like a good category to have in itself, I feel, having just submitted the ill-fated spacemen in Superman II.

I agree about "Alternate Death Scene" though to shorten the title I think "Alternate Fate" would be a good one, as they show up in both deleted scenes and alternate endings/versions of a scene. I think a perfect icon for "Alternate Fate" would be a bloodstained film reel, or a filmstrip with a bloody scissor cutting it. tongue sticking out smiley

An example of someone who dies two different ways(whether they made the cut or not) would be Shaak-Ti in Star Wars Ep III. In one version, Anakin kills her in the Jedi Temple. But there is an alternate scene where General Grievous kills her on his ship, both of which would qualify

It also qualifies for someone who died in one version but survived in another. The death scene, regardless of if it was in the theatrical release or the DVD release, would be considered an "Alternate Fate" because it's one of the possible fates for that character.

Aunt Jo from A Series of An Unfortunate Events has an expanded death scene in the deleted scenes section on the DVD. And, of course, our good buddy Greedo in Star Wars...
