(Finally) Rate deaths on this site!

OK, enough moaning about ratings you whiney b*stards, you can now rate the deaths in the site database yourself!

Seriously, we always promised that we would let the people decide on ratings, and we've been assured that some code is now in place to let you do that.

We've been hassling our coders for months about this feature, and it probably still doesn't work properly, but at least we're getting there slowly.

To rate deaths, you must be logged into the forums. So, if you haven't registered, you'd better do so now.
Then, just go to any death and look for a link underneath the current rating %.

The maths to number crunch the diffuse average ratings hasn't been implemented yet, but will be soon, so please add your votes so our pet geeks have some data to play with.

There has been muttering about "unpaid work" and general dissent from the code monkeys involved, but they'll do what they're told if our threats are creative enough.

The "new content" we are excited about isn't related to death writeups I'm afraid - but we have plans to catch up on the backlog of those too, so don't fret!

User ratings are now being displayed, but only as a normal average.
eg: [www.moviedeaths.com]

At some point this will be changed to a diffuse average, so a small number of unusual votes don't skew the overall rating too much.

As the number of ratings grows we'll probably increase the minimum number required before the average rating is shown (it's currently set at two for testing).

Other items on the wish list include:
- seeing user ratings in the main death list (and being able to order by them) - DONE
- some kind of fun "people who liked this death also liked these ones..." list.
- we should probably allow a "zero" rating to be added. - DONE
- it might be interesting to limit how many times people can award zero or a perfect 10...
- a dedicated page that shows you which deaths you haven't rated and allows you to rate a whole load at once would save some time.
- maybe allow ratings to be awarded for writeups too, so we can see which ones are most popular.

I just added scores to every single death I have seen out of the ones in the database. I even managed to update several with user ratings (which often were close to the editor's mark).

2) Blade Runner - Roy Batty (95%)
3) Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope - Obi-Wan Kenobi (90%)

5) Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi - Emperor Palpatine (87%)

Tonnnes of deaths now have ratings. Almost 1/3 of the database is now rated.

I've added a small bunch of new ratings, but there are still ten pages left of those needing to be rated.
