What is your favourite death?

To start these forums rolling, what do you think is the best death scene you have witnessed in a movie and why?

For me, i think it has to be Darth Vader's death in Return of the Jedi. I alway enjoy a benighted soul finally doing the right thing and redeeming himself at the last possible moment. Darth Vader, killing the emperor and saving his son ticks all the boxes.

One of my favorites is this: in Star Wars Episode III, when Anakin takes the clones to attack the Jedi Academy, one unnamed teenage jedi padawan rolls out of nowhere into a bunch of clones, and is combletely bada** for about three seconds, before catching some blasterfire and biting it. He looked good, took a few with him, and wasn't afraid of his fate.

Being a Bond fan, I have quite few favorites my all-time #1 being Oddjob, caught me off guard! I thought that fight would've gone on for at least 10 more minutes, nope, Bond killed him within seconds in a brilliant display of observation.

Other good bond-related deaths include;

OHMSS: SPECTRE skier fed to snow machine, in my opinion, the most gruesome of the series excluding some in Licence to Kill

Mr. Big: no comment, just liked it

Moonraker: Corinne Dufour, reminded me of the Omen

Octopussy: 009, first time seeing it scared the crap out of me!

Everything in licence to kill seemed so dang brutal! Bond was getting worthy revenge for Felix and Della

Other favorites include;

hellboy: Kroenen, my favorite extreme @$$-kick

R.O.D.: Genji, so much blood, fire, and oil in that one scene!

Robocop: Leon Nash, I liked the gun in itself, my favorite explosion death I believe.

Of course, I've said this many times before but, More may come and probably will!

My favorite deaths in the movies I own where people get killed:

King Kong: Carnahan's death is the most effective of the men to fall off the log bridge for two reasons - number one, he's actually a major supporting character, and number two, despite the bad bluescreen effect the shot of Carnahan falling right past where Jack is hiding is just awesome.

Cube: Alderson (why this death isn't up yet is beyond me!); it's so inventive to have someone get sliced to bits by an enormous wire-mesh thing. Watching him slowly fall to pieces is creepy.

The Thing: Definitely Copper. When he's attempting to give CPR to the guy with the bad heart (I forget his name), and the dude's chest splits open just as Copper presses down, then bites his hands off. It's got to be pretty awful to have both your hands bitten off!

Krull: The thief who gets it in the spike room in the Black Fortress. All the thieves have names, including this dude, but for the life of me I can't recall what it was. Anyways it's a very wince-inducing scene showing the spike sloooooooowly pushing through the guy's body.

Darkman: Definitely Rick. Durant's gang are some of the sickest SOBs I've ever seen and they get everything that's coming to them, but Rick's death is the best. Sure, Smiley and Rudy's are more complicated and inventive, and the death of Durant himself more dramatic, but watching Rick scream his head off as cars whizz past his head is great.

I'll maybe submit more "cube" deaths tonight, if you aren't already on it.

by the way, Dr. Hargreaves from The Abominable Dr. Phibes, my favorite death trap type death.
S'more!

Beverly Hills Cop: Probably Zack. I mean, after he killed Axel Foley's friend Mikey Tandino back at the beginning he had it coming.

Beverly Hills Cop III: I unfortunately don't have a favorite death in the second film, but my favorite death is the injured goon Ellis Dewald decides to kick out of the moving truck in a scene similar to Bobby's demise in Robocop. It's just so funny how he transforms into the most obvious dummy in the world before being run over by Axel.

Island of Terror: Probably Dr. Reginald Landers. It's the most well-executed death, and I like that Landers goes out swinging an axe instead of having a humiliating death.

Jurassic Park: Probably Dennis Nedry. It's just perversely satisfying when he gets exactly what's coming to him. smiling smiley

The Lost World: Jurassic Park: Carter, who gets stepped on by the female tyrannosaur. Splat!

Jurassic Park III: With only three deaths to choose from, one of which I despise (Udesky), I'm gonna go out on a limb and say Cooper. It's fun watching him just get snapped up by the spinosaur and his blood splatters on the windshield of the plane.

Van Helsing: Igor. Definitely Igor.

The Mummy (1959): Difficult to say. So few of the deaths in this film are very noteworthy, but I'm gonna say Joseph Whemple because I like when Kharis busts through the door and walks up to him and strangles him. It's a nice "Oh, you believe NOW!" moment.

The Mummy (1999): Dr. Terrence Bey, the museum curator. Like Dr. Landers in Island of Terror, he goes to meet his maker in a blaze of glory and self-sacrifice.

The Mummy Returns: Shafek (I think that's his name), the short dude who normally carries around the Black Book. Twice in the film he avoids death by either dodging or ducking thrown knives or gunfire, letting whoever is standing behind him take the hit. However later on, he just gets stabbed with a spear by a pygmy and that's all she wrote. I was laughing my butt off. I loved this character and he had such an amusing death.

Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark: Oh man, so many great deaths in this one. Probably Colonel Dietrich. I love the way his head just implodes.

Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom: Chen, Lao Che's oldest son. Indy skewers him with a flaming shish-kebab.

Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade: Probably Walter Donovan. smiling smiley

i love seeing any death on screen where the dude falls, preferabbly REALLY high. I've always enjoyed it when i was a kid seeing the old animated films like Hunchback or Beauty and the Best and watching those villains fall.

The Mist: Mrs. Carmody. ("I killed her!" "I know, that's why I said thank you!"winking smiley
Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull: Colonel Dovchenko.
If Looks Could Kill: Augustus Steranko. He falls out of a helicopter....and then it lands on him.
The Blob (1958): Projectionist. Just because it's so funny.
The Blob (1988): George. It's not every day you see a guy get sucked down a sink drain.
Resident Evil: Spence. ("I'm missing you already."winking smiley
Resident Evil: Apocalypse: Terri Morales. Death by cute zombie children!
Resident Evil: Extinction: Chase. Falling off a replica of the Eiffel Tower and taking three zombies with you is badass.
Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl: Jacoby. ("No fair!"winking smiley
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest: Captain Bellamy. I just love how cartoony it is.
Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End: Mercer. Just eeew.
The Guyver: Dr. East. Jeffrey Combs as a goat monster that the hero bursts out of, Alien-style.
Snakes on a Plane: Paul. I admit I felt bad for the guy but I get a kick out of seeing the python get sucked out while still swallowing him.
