I've just read that my favourite narrator of "Tales of high adventure" died recently.
A few months ago I was watching "West Wing" and Mako appeared as a nobel laureate of economics, arguing with the President of the US. "It's Mako!" I cried, excitedly, but got only blank incomprehension from my partner, who sadly knows more about West Wing than old barbarian films .

So long Mako, you'll be missed by me anyway. I mean, who else could read scripts like this so well? :

He did not care any more... life and death... the same. Only that the crowd would be there to greet him with howls of lust and fury. He began to realize his sense of worth... he mattered. In time, his victories could not easily be counted... he was taken to the east, a great prize, where the war masters would teach him the deepest secrets. Language and writing were also made available, the poetry of Kitai, the philosophy of Sung; and he also came to know the pleasures of women, when he was bred to the finest stock. But, always, there remained the discipline of steel.

*Sigh* I guess Samurai Jack won't receive a proper end after all, even if they decided to continue it at this point the lack of Aku's sinister voice will leave it somewhat empty.

This is very sad news indeed - my enjoyment of the Conan films is down in no small part to his narration.

"Between the time when the oceans drank Atlantis, and the rise of the sons of Aryas, there was an age undreamed of. And onto this, Conan, destined to wear the jeweled crown of Aquilonia upon a troubled brow. It is I, his chronicler, who alone can tell thee of his saga. Let me tell you of the days of high adventure! "

How delightfully insensitive.

Reported and PMed. Last strike, Karl.

Ack, I'm late, what did I miss? What'd Karl do?

Karl wrote a post saying he was glad Mako was dead (I don't think he knew who he was) and then wrote some stupid spam after it like "(bites into candy apple)AAAAA!!"
I was watching Conan and decided to do a google on the "poetry of Kitai and the philosophy of Sung". I am sorry he is dead. Indeed. What a distinctive voice. Like Alexander Scourby, the old narrator for Natl. Geographic. Like Thulsa Doom himself, James Earl Jones. But Mako had a voice for tales around the campfire

Indeed... I am of the younger generation, and I know him as Aku in Samurai Jack and Uncle from Avatar: The Last Airbender. I actually cried when I heard that he was dead. R.I.P. Mako

Don't forget his other famous speech, at the end of Conan the Destroyer:

"In time he became a King by his own hand and this story shall also be told. One that shall never be put on the silver screen because I'm dead, Arnold's in California and this franchise is now finished."

Flashpenny; you made me laugh out loud. "...because I'm dead, Arnold's in California and this franchise is now finished."

Sheer brilliance!!!
