Category Suggestion: Revenge

When the killer has exacted their revenge on the person who was killed. What about that?

I think it would be a good thing to add, but as stated before, Neckbreak probably needs a fair bit of attention. Still, this catergory would be very popular, particularly in action films.

"You killed my second favourite cousin; big mistake!"

"Hello. My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die."

I also support adding Revenge, but where is that Broken Neck category I've been howling for for so long?!

But revenge is even more common than chase!

Yeah, an "Eye for an eye" is probably a bit too convoluted, but then, not everyone knows who Slash is!

For "Broken Neck" I think "Spinal Trauma" would be a better name, Perhaps Jake Gyllenhal (Glenna?) as the icon if we are on a celebrity fix! (I couldn't resist!)

If not, how about a close-up of vertebrae separating?

P.S. I don't get the reference for the second neck-break.

Steven Seagal is the one stop for neckbreaks. Hence the second icon.

I recall a review that said a Steven Seagal film is good "if you like the sound of bones breaking". I'd agree.

Actually, there is. Everyone makes mistakes.

Just throwing in my two cents, I think "Spinal Trauma" is a bad idea. More people die from broken necks than broken backs, and "Spinal Trauma" unavoidably conjures up images of the back, not the neck.

A question and douse me in gasoline if you will (hey, there's another category)! I've sent in a slew of deaths, when will they be reviewed or put on the site?

Patience, Alcott. The maintainers are very busy people. It's a slow process and eventually your submissions will see inclusion, fear not.

I myself have about 500 on back order, don't expect them to come all at once Alcott, they'll be put up in due time! (I submitted James Cummins way back in 2005!) I believe AAAARRRGGGHH! Had a similar predicament.

As for the name of the trauma category, is there a scientific name for what happens? Perhaps we could use that, I have seen a broken-back death. (In Solo)

Rest assured, your submissions have not gone unnoticed, and thank you to you and all the other submitters who have not had their deaths posted (you are not alone).

We will endeavour to get the backlog down (it is around 300 deaths at the moment) in the coming weeks, but please bear with us. I have to say, i am honestly quite surprised at how many people are submitting, it is great to see people interested and debating this most macabre of hollywood plot devices.

Now that Mouseburger is here, how about neck-break or maybe even revenge?

i quite like neck break, there is certainly enough of these incidents in films to deserve its own category, although i think it needs a better name than "neck break" or "skeletal trauma".

Revenge is a bit different, most deaths could be considered in revenge for some other action earlier in the film. I think the categories we have cover most circumstances that would arise as a revenge killing, i.e. former friends, master pupil, betrayal etc.

by the way Matt i liked the icons further up the page, although i am not sure how the googly eyes signify revenge
