Assigned with looking at a town's blood samples to determine who is infected with the deadly Motaba virus, Casey has to wear a special suit so he is not exposed to the virus, which has mutated and can now be spread through the air. Sam, who works with Casey is having trouble keeping awake. Casey responds that he doesn't need sleep as he "slept in July!"
Despite his confidence in keeping awake, it appears that tiredness has crept up on Casey. After a night of testing he starts to exit the testing area when suddenly... RRRRIP! Casey's face looks up in shock - he's forgotten to disconnect the air supply in his suit, and it has caused a massive tear. This is more than ironic, as earlier in the movie, he managed to spot the smallest of tears in Sam's suit. He disconnects what's left and rushes out. Robby comes back to check. He lies to her and says it was just a case of the "willies".
"I hate them willies,"he observes nervously. "They ought to call them the Sams don't you think?"
He continues on his business as usual, because he's too afraid to tell anyone. Eventually, he collapses, forcing Sam and Robby to take him to a hospital. They desperately put ice on his body to cool him down. Waking up for a moment, he asks Sam, "how many brain cells did I kill?""How many? About a billion," Sam guesses. Casey smiles. "Oh, now I'm only as smart as you," he quips. Sam starts to laugh. "What can we give him to kill his sense of humour?" he jokes. Casey begins to go into convulsions.
Later on in the movie, Robby is talking to Casey, who is looking far paler and sweating. There is blood under his eyes and ears. He asks Robby to hold his hand. He knows the disease has advanced too far for him to be saved, which must be horrible. We never see Casey die, but then again, we never see him after this scene, and I'm pretty sure he's not likely to survive given the state he's in.
Sweet! Another one down! Thanks!
How come "I hate those willies" isn't boldened?
Thanks for correcting that. This is also the first 'Disease' entry that isn't from '28 Days Later...'
heh, they will all get done, it just takes us time. Hopefully with the winter setting in, there is more time for playing with the website.
