Gerald Foster is one of the technicians who operate the radar outpost on Fara Island. Foster plays an important role in Dr. Godfrey Hanson's (q.v.) plan to kill the aliens that have been invading Fara, helping him set fire to some bails of hay in order to attract the creatures. The first half of the plan works all too well, but not the second. Foster finds himself confronted alone by one of the aliens, and he tosses a lit stick of dynamite at it but the explosion fails to kill it.

Foster turns to run, dropping the box containing the dynamite. Then, for reasons unknown, he idiotically goes back for it despite Hanson yelling for him not to. Foster trips, spraining his ankle, and even as he reaches for the dynamite, the heat coming off of the approaching alien is enough to light the fuses of all the sticks in the box. The whole box worth dynamite then blows up, killing Foster.
