Despite being a modestly-sized team now, our would-be "heroes" latest attempt to rescue Champion City's resident superhero Captain Amazing from the supervillain Casanova Frankenstein does not end well.

While Invisible Boy and Spleen stand watch outside, the Sphynx, Bowler, Mr. Furious, Shoveller, and Blue Raja sneak into the basement of Casanova's lair where the Captain is strapped to a chair poised directly under the "Psychofraculator", a powerful ray gun that is supposed to go off at midnight and destroy him and the city.

Being less then experienced with machines, or disabling supervillain weaponry for that matter, Bowler and Mr. Furious fumble about with the controls as they do their best to follow the Captain's instructions on how to deactivate the ray gun. Shoveller and Sphynx, obviously sensing this won't go well, stay back to avoid being involved in the inevitable as a misunderstanding over a toggle switch breaks out between the Captain and Bowler and results in the ray gun beginning to power up prematurely (while Mr. Furious asks about a reset button).

Finally, the Captain, having completely lost his patience with the group's incompetance, loses his temper as well calls them morons and begins yelling at them to just flip the next switch already. Blue Raja, deciding to do as the Captain says instead of continue arguing before the machine finishes powering up, rushes forward and flips a large lever.

This proves a huge mistake as it activates the ray gun, which promptly fires a beam of energy down on the Captain. The intense heat and radiation from the beam causes the Captain's body to cook and warp in bizarre (and extremely comical) proportions as it's burned from the inside-out till Blue Raja manages to turn it off. He's a little late, however, as all that remains is a charred, distorted husk.

"We killed him!" Blue Raja says in shock. Shoveller disagrees on the 'we' part as he was on the other end of the room. Bowler approaches the Captain's warped, smoking remains to check his pulse. The fact that his hand immediately falls off and shatters on the floor the instant her finger touches it confirms that the Captain didn't pull through.

Coincidentally, I just the DVD today. How well timed is that?

"Transformation", he was twisted into some rather psychofractudelic shapes, maybe "Psi" if the device really was powered by psyche (I don't remember).
Comment 3 by 'Matt' (reply to this comment)
Psi doesn't really count. What you might be referring to is the fact that the beam plants images into the victim's head, which results in the body being fried from the inside (hence the resulting transformation).

I love when the bad guys come in later and find him like that, and Tony C (or is it Tony P?) sums the whole thing up thusly: "This sucker's dead!"

I think he might be more of an Ambivalent. He may be a superhero, but it's a nasty egotist who only really cares about his sponsorship deals.
