Nicholas Kudrow was a department manager of the NSA, where he developed a very expensive super-code called "Mercury" for the US Government.
After Simon Lynch, an autistic boy, unwittingly cracks the code, Kudrow takes the term “over-reaction” to new heights when he hires a killer to liquidate Simon and his parents.
After some unsuccessful attempts, Kudrow covers his evil plan as an NSA Mission. He orders a helicopter to the roof of the NSA-Building and wants to fly away with Simon and kill the boy somewhere desolate. Kudrow is about to put Simon in the helicopter, but to his surprise, Art Jeffries is inside it.
Jeffries takes Simon and attempts to kick away Kudrow. But all of them end up falling out of the helicopter and landing on the roof of the building. Kudrow tries desperately to shoot Simon with his gun, but Jeffries prevents the attack, beating the gun out of his hands, causing it to fall on the ground.
Then begins the obligatory hand to hand struggle each trying to throw the other from the roof – we know this is going to be the outcome, it is the only reason the scriptwriters would have placed them on this rooftop! I digress, during the struggle, Jeffries also pulls his gun, but Kudrow manages to throw this from the roof. While the fight is going on, Simon picks up Kudrow's weapon and hands it to Jeffries, who threatens Kudrow with it. At last, Kudrow is under control.
Or is he? Right at this moment, the FBI SWAT team enters the roof and Jeffries is distracted for a moment. Kudrow uses this moment to make a last ditch attempt to throw Simon from the roof. However, Jeffries is quicker and shoots Kudrow three times in the chest. Kudrow looks confused for a moment, then loses his balance and falls down from the roof, to his death.
