Saurod, a creepy reptilian alien wearing bronze armor, is one of the four mercenaries sent by Skeletor to Earth. Together with Karg, Beastman and Blade, Saurod's mission is to kill He-Man and his friends and retrieve the Cosmic Key. Being little more than glorified lackeys, the four fail miserably. Upon returning to Eternia to report, team leader Karg struggles to come up with a really good excuse for why they got their butts whipped:
"We, uh, traced the Key's signal, but were unable to take possession of it."
"Is that all?" asks Skeletor as the four kneel before him.
"We fought with the Eternians, but were outnumbered," Karg lies. "We thought it wise to return alive and gather a larger force."
Whether Skeletor knows Karg is lying or not is entirely beside the point: the mercenaries have failed him, and it's time to pay the price. He leaps to his feet, snarling, "You are all aware of the penalty for failure!" Swordsman Blade pipes up, begging, "Give me one last chance, Lord Skeletor, and we will succeed!" Skeletor's response is simply, "I am not in a giving vein this day."
To prove his point he raises his left hand and points it at Saurod. Suddenly bolts of red lightning come flying from his fingertips and hit the armored reptile man in the torso. As the other three mercenaries watch in horror, Saurod screams as the lightning envelopes his entire body. He turns red and then disappears, apparently completely disintegrated by Skeletor's lightning.
Heh, I do have a guilty liking for Skeletor as a villain - he's as clear cut a "baddie" as you're ever likely to find
