Kindly submitted by Matrix

Hatcher has no sooner decapitated Screwface, a Jamaican drug lord, when he discovers Screwface has a twin brother in Los Angeles, also called Screwface, which our hero must battle with in order to end the film.

The outcome is a given; Seagull is going to whoop ass. The only question is how he will do it. He starts off using a sword, slashing Screwface down the middle of his face. He quickly follows this up by gouging his eyes out, shoving him through a concrete wall, snapping his back on his knee before putting the poor soul out of his misery by throwing him down an elevator shaft.

You would think that would be sufficient evidence for the audience that this particular baddie is dead. Not so. At the bottom of the elevator shaft is an unnecessarily large spike, serving no practical purpose, apart from being a device with which to impale a drug lord on.

I think the UK version of this scene is heavily edited, because I didn't see the back snap, and Seagal sort of just poked him in the eyes.

That's because it is. The following cuts were made in the UK for the final fight.
:
- 3s of Seagal pushing his thumbs into Screwface's eyes.
- 9s of Seagal breaking Screwface's back.
And a couple more earlier on as well: [www.worldwidedvdforums.com]

I wonder why they bother editing a film for violence, when it has already acheived an eighteen certificate? The BBFC seem to have a problem with headbutts too (Watch The Matrix subway fight in UK and US versions and you'll see what I mean)

Just the UK and Irish version of The Matrix were cut (even though the Irish version recieved an 18 (!) certificate). I believe the BBFC recently passed it uncut with all cuts waived at 15, which is good news (I think this may have been for the PSP UMD version of the film).
