Travis (q.v.) has just been spotted stealing some military ordinance from the police warehouse. Riggs and Murtaugh are in pursuit.
Joining them for this little operation is an over enthusiastic "young cop", who really doesn't deserve a name, as he will be pushing up the daisies in a few moments....oh it should also be noted that he is celebrating his birthday today too, really making the pathos of his death even greater.
Anyway, they all head down to the basement level where a fire fight ensues. Murtaugh orders the police officers to keep their distance, but the over enthusiastic "young cop" decides to edge closer, using an oil drum as cover.
Travis escapes but not before firing off a few shots. Confident in the fact that the oil drum plus the Kevlar body armour he is wearing makes him almost invincible, the over enthusiastic "young cop" is somewhat surprised when a couple of cop killer bullets penetrate his armour, killing him.
This death was pointless, as the audience had already been shown how devastating these bullets are earlier in the film.
While I was taking pictures, I discovered the guy has a name - Edwards (seen on his nametag after he gets shot).
