Four years have passed since the incident in the Texas chapel that left the Bride in a coma, and Vernita Green has married and changed her name to Jeannie Bell. The Bride, seeking out each of her former partners to get revenge, has arrived at Vernita's house. After a grueling fight in the living room, the Bride decides to temporarily postpone her battle when Vernita's daughter Nikki comes home from school. With this uneasy truce, Vernita invites the Bride into the kitchen for some coffee.

As the Bride and Vernita discuss the past and make arrangements to duel to the death at a time and place away from Nikki, Vernita picks up a box of cereal. She makes an attempt to end the Bride's rampage right there, shooting through the bottom of the box with a gun she has secretly concealed. However, this proves to be a fatal mistake, as she misses her mark. All bets are off, and The Bride retaliates immediately, hitting Vernita in the chest with a throwing knife. Standing over her latest victim and taking the knife from her body, the Bride realizes, much to her chagrin, that little Nikki is standing in the kitchen door watching. Wiping the blood off the knife, the Bride explains as the girl looks up at her silently: "It was not my intention to do this in front of you. For that I'm sorry. But you can take my word for it, your mother had it comin'. When you grow up, if you still feel raw about it, I'll be waiting."
