Shortly after Quint (q.v.) has been killed by the shark, the Orca begins to sink beneath the sea. Brody is in the hold looking for something that will help him kill the shark, when suddenly it bursts though the side of the ship and starts flapping around, trying to kill him. In desperation, Brody grabs an oxygen tank and proceeds to beat the shark on the head with it, in an vain attempt to dissuade it from eating him. Instead, the shark decides to eat the oxygen tank and swims off.

This gives Brody an idea. Taking the bolt action rifle, he proceeds to climb to the top of the sinking ships mast and aim at the shark, or more specifically, at the oxygen tank that that shark has partially swallowed.

His first few of shots are a bit wayward, and he is barely above sea level as he takes one final shot. If he misses this, he is done for, but he rouses himself with some motivational words, "smile you son of a bitch", and fires. The bullet hits the tank and the result is explosive; blowing the shark to smithereens and providing the mildly curious seagulls, which were looking on, with the meal of their lives.

The method used to off this particular shark was one that made it on to Mythbusters. If I remember correctly, shooting an oxygen tank wasn't a particularly effective shark removal method.
The death was still fitting and "Bruce" went out with a bang.
Hmm...isn't it a little off to refer to a shark as an "orca"?
The Orca is the name of Quint's boat which sinks. They're not calling the shark an orca.
If I remembered, I did see an episode of mythbusters that had Jaws myths put to the test, and this method of killing a shark was one of them. A bullet through the Scuba task won't do any damage to a shark, but it sure can act like a rocket in crush through a wall without problems. The only way the can be possible, if it was around, a sticky grenade would've done some serious mess.
