Wu Han is an "old friend" of Indiana Jones' who is in disguise as a waiter at Club Obi-Wan during Indy's attempt to give Chinese crime lord Lao Che the ashes of Emperor Nurhachi in exchange for a diamond. Lao constantly attempts to swindle Indy and ends up poisoning him, whereupon Wu Han attempts to come to his rescue, revealing a revolver concealed beneath his serving tray.

But Wu Han's attempted heroics are all for naught, as Lao's oldest son Chen pulls a concealed revolver of his own and shoots him. We do not realize this at first: first we hear champagne bottles loudly uncorking throughout the club, in the form of several successive pops. It is only when blood begins to spread across Wu Han's shirt that we realize the last pop was a gunshot. A shot of Chen now holding a revolver confirms this.

Wu Han collapses into Indy's arms and Indy attempts to console his dying companion that he'll get him out of there and save him, but Wu Han's having none of that. "I've followed you on many adventures," he says, "but against the great unknown, I go first, Indy." He then goes limp in Indiana's arms, and dies.

The fact that Wu's glass on the serving tray shatters also confirms he's been shot.
