Baldin is the cheeky dwarf in this wonderfully diverse collection of stereotypical Dungeons and Dragons adventurers. Having been caught in a trap by Voltan(q.v.), Hawk and his friends are about to be tortured by Voltan (Hawk's brother) to find out where a chest of gold is hidden.

Voltan, holding a white hot iron poker close to Hawk's eye, is interrupted when Baldin confesses that he knows where the gold is. Triumphantly Voltan walks over to the dwarf. Baldin mumbles something incomprehensible and Voltan leans in closer to hear what he is saying.

This is exactly what Baldin had been hoping for and he knees Voltan in his damaged eye. Voltan is in agony, but is still able to pull a knife out of the table and ram it into Baldin's stomach, before heading out of the church to find the black wizard (who can help ease the pain in his eye).

That was certainly one in the eye for Voltan

With the help of the sorceress, and the incompetance of the Inattentive guard (q.v.) the whole group manage to escape to the woods, where Baldin, after delivering a bit of his trademark patwah, finally dies. To ease the pain of this emotional scene, the sorceress reassures the adventurers that she will protect Baldin's grave from "wild beasts who would disturb it" by using some of her glowing golf balls.
