Bond has put a spanner in the works of rogue agent Trevelyan's plan to use Goldeneye to disable/rob the world’s financial institutions (via an electromagnetic pulse), and now he and Trevelyan are in a climactic fight on a big satelitte dish in Cuba.

Things look bad for Bond, the satellite dish is exploding all around him, and Trevelyan is about to kick him off of the stantion. When Trevelyan is distracted by a helicopter, Bond, seizing his moment, turns the tables on his one time best friend and ends up dangling him by his feet over a very large drop.

Bond, at his ruthless best, lets him fall and hops in the chopper with his latest bit of fluff. No sooner has he done this when the whole structure of the satellite dish gives way and comes crashing down on Alec Trevelyan.

This is one of my favorite james bond films by far. It's stunning effects and action make for a good final battle scene. It takes place on a satelite in cuba, as mr.mouseburger stated and is rather hard to keep up with as it goes by in different ares of the facility. My favorite part of the fight is when Alec and James are fighting on the small sattelite dish. Alec begins to strangle him but is dastracted and is headbutted then kick odd the sattelite. James grabs him, but lets him fall for many reasons 9 you would have to see the extroaidinary film). When he hits the ground bloos pours from his mouth before he looks up to see his station exploding. James excapes on a helicopter with his girlfriend, and the massive satellite comes crashing down on the screaming villian. Sean Bean plays Alec Trevelyan and is my favorite portrayer of a villian ( see Patriot Games or The Island).

if Alec Trevelyan had lived the United Kingdom would have re-entered the stone age.

Once again, Sean Bean proves himself as the best "is-he-or-isn't-he" bad guys in history. You love the guy, even though you are told to hate him. H

I also believe that this is the best Bond ever. Argue if you will, but it just rocks. It's also relatively bereft of the usual Bond silliness, and is also nearly down-to-earth with the gadgetry and villains. Dialogue is classic Bond cheese, but Pierce Brosnan is the man, and Sean Bean just plain rocks.

Oh, and his death is satisfying as well. Instead of pulling him back up, allowing for a "hidden weapon" scene, Bond merely drops the guy, coldhearted and as licensed to kill as ever. Awesome.

He should be added to the "Former Friends" category death.

I love the fight scene previously. The best part is when Alec grabs Bond by the throat and smashes him around the walls; you can really see the hate in his eyes.

Then when Bond is climbing up onto the gantry, holding onto one of the wires, and you think "ZOMG! He's gonna make it! He's gonna climb up and kick the crap out of 006!" but just as he's getting up, Alec kicks him in the guts, and you think "Aw, no."

Course, it all goes 007's way in the end. ^^

Still own weapon, just in an ironic way

But it wasn't being used as a weapon.

I still can't believe that Trevelyan survived his fall. He had to have fallen well over 100 feet and STILL lived after hitting a solid, brick landing.
if Alec Trevelyan had lived the United Kingdom would have re-entered the stone age.
No, Natalya had already destroyed the Golden-Eye.

Heh, just ignore Karl Eichholtz. He posted crap like that a long time ago but he's been pretty scarce on the boards as of late.

I wanted 006 to drop 007 off the gantry. I was definitely cheering Alec on. Anyone who wants to kill Pierce Brosnan as the worst Bond in history cant be that bad. Annoyingly, I seem to be the only one who thinks so on this site. Long live Craig!!

Well, I prefer Dalton myself, and I dislike the plots of all the Brosnan flicks, so, does that count?
