After a long period of grueling military training the belligerent Gunnery Sgt. Hartman (R. Lee Ermey) has pushed Private Gomer Pyle to the edge of his sanity.
Pyle has gone into Hartman's private head, and is followed by Private Joker. Hartman is alerted to this, and storms in to confront the pair. Pyle sitting on a latrine, rifle loaded. Now, when faced with a mentally unbalanced individual holding a weapon, most people would proceed with caution but not Hartman, who shouts, "What is your major malfunction, numbnuts? Didn't Mommy and Daddy show you enough attention when you were a child?"
This is enough to snap Private Pyle's tenuous links to rationality, and he unloads the gun into Hartman's chest, killing him instantly.
you left out the archetype.Goody (minor) or Baddy (minor)?
he should be Goody (Major) not Ambivalent (Major) or Baddy (Major)!
Despite being a marine sergeant, he is obviously meant to be sadistic and hated throughout the film.
Why not add tempting fate? If you've knowingly sent a guy to his limit, and now he's got a gun on you, you're really pushing it if you keep talking smack to him.
He should've watched his mouth.
