James Bond has evaded Donald Grant, retrieved the LEKTOR decoding machine and escaped with his latest love, Tatiana Romanova.

SPECTRE's plot has failed and - in the words of Dr Evil - people must die! Attempting to make a judgement on just who to place the blame on for the botched plot, Blofeld summons both Kronsteen and Klebb into his briefing room, to place judgement and carry out punishment. Blofeld asks the pair of them what went wrong with the plan, whilst Morzeny enters the room and hovers menacingly behind them.

Kronsteen explains that his plan is foolproof and that the fault lies in Klebb's judgement; after all, she hired an assassin that could be easily wooed by money. It seems at first that Blofeld is inclined to agree with Kronsteen when he warns Klebb about the price of failure.

For a second it seems Morzeny is rearing back to stab Klebb with the spike on the tip of his shoe, but instead he spins around to hit Kronsteen with it. Kronsteen makes a dramatic choking, gasping sound and looks at Blofeld with a look of incredulity on his face, before collapsing dead on the floor.

"twelve seconds" remarks Blofeld. "one of these days we must invent a faster working venom!" indicating that it was not just the spike alone which killed Kronsteen.

The question of just how Morzeny knew which person Blofeld had decided to execute, is uncertain.

3 men were found dead on the train at trieste one of them was Grant.what have you to say to that No. 5?

it was Klebb's choice her people failed.

it was your plan he followed it inplacintly!

it was perfect.

expect one thing though they were dealing with Mr. Bond.

who is Bond?compared with Kronsteen?

yes exactly.what have you to say to that No.3?Bond is still breathing and the LEKTOR is still not in our posesstion.i have already negotiated with the KGB to return it to them we have agreed to price and SPECTRE always delivers what he promises.the whole orginazation is depending on our keeping those promises.i warned you!we do not forgive failure No.3 you know the punishment!

yes.it's death No. 1.

our rules are very simple if you failed.

Argh!

12 seconds one day we must invent a faster working venom.

I thought it was Klebb who killed Kronsteen with a shoe-blade, or does everyone in S.P.E.C.T.R.E have them, it'd be funy if they were told to relinquish their weapons!

Nope, it was Morzeny. Morzeny is wearing black boots; later, Klebb's "shoe-blades" are women's shoes.

Besides, why would Klebb kill Kronsteen? The whole structure of the scene is to make it look like she is the one who is about to be killed, but then Morzeny kills Kronsteen instead.
