Kenshirô (aka Ken), our hero, has trained all his life to be the master of Hokuto Shinken, a secret martial arts style that increases a user's strength and speed by 80% and, more importantly, by using ki energy on certain pressure points of the body, allows the user to destroy the victim's body from within.
Of course, we have to see a demonstration of this in the film. Ken stumbles across a town early in the film. Zeed, a bandit leader with pitifully bad timing, has chosen to attack the town.
Zeed is holding Rin, a little girl, hostage above his head. Ken challenges Zeed by throwing a chunk of debris at him, at deadly speed. Zeed responds by catching the debris in his mouth, biting down on it, eating part, and then spitting out a nail before finally sending his henchmen after Ken, who is across the clearing.
The henchmen are easily dispatched as Kenshirô walks up to Zeed, with deadly calm. As he does this, the henchmen's heads explode. Ken then knocks the final thug away with such force, he flies into Zeed and splatters.
Kenshirô attacks Zeed with the Hokuto Hyakuretsu Ken, which strikes 100 various points all over the body for complete destruction. Zeed, mysteriously grows 10 stories tall (that is anime for you!), falls on his bum, and gets back up, threatening Ken.
We're then treated to a nice animation of Zeed's nervous system. Then the exploding starts, and oh boy does he explode! Zeed eventually leaves this mortal coil in an explosion of blood and body parts, leaving no identifiable corpse behind.
You've forgot maybe the best pre-mortem exchange ever, right after Zeed stands up, and before he shows any signs of duress:
Zeed: "You should know, I fight to the death."
Ken: "That's ok, because you're already dead."
