Poor Evan’s evening could have gone better, having had his hand stuck in the waste disposal, narrowly escaping suffocation and avoiding being blown up.

With bad luck like that, he wisely decides to escape down the fire ladder outside his apartment. But fate has more near misses in store for Evan. As he climbs down the ladder, he tries to flick the latch that automatically causes the ladder to drop down to the ground, the net result of this is that he ends up falling to the ground, but manages to stay upright and uninjured - for the moment.

Fate is a curious thing, and Evan slips on a pile of noodles he had earlier thrown out of his window. While he is lying prostrate on the ground, the ladder sudden drops, stopping inches from Evan’s face. He has time to thank his lucky stars, and utter "Oh Christ!, huh huh" before his luck finally runs out and the ladder suddenly drops again, impaling Evan through the eye.

What I love most about this death is the 2 big clues as to how it happens in the flat. First off, as he's stumbling through all the toys in the hall, we see a doll with an eye missing.
Second, the magnetic letters on his fridge say "HEY E" but the 'H' falls into the noodles; "EYE" is now on the fridge!
