The final battle between good and evil is set on a mound of corpses with Arthur facing off against his son, Mordred (q.v.). Mordred impales Arthur with his spear, but can't stop Arthur from killing him.

After being impaled, Arthur pulls himself along the Mordred's spear shaft and prepares to stick Excalibur into his chest
Mortally wounded, Arthur orders Percival to return to Excalibur to the lake. After some procrastination, Percival finally does as his king requested. When he returns to tell Arthur what he saw (the lady of the lake), he finds Arthur's corpse sailing away on a barge with three bints, one of which is Guinevere.

Arthur's funeral barge, off to Avalon??
The destination is uncertain, but some historians think that is the first reference to the Fishguard -Dun Laoghaire crossing.
Shouldn't this also be betrayal?????????
Family?
