John Strangways is a marine biologist on the MI6 payroll, who has been collecting radioactive rock samples on Crab-Key Island. He sends the samples to his friend, R.J. Dent, for analysis.

Unfortunately, he is unaware that Dent works for Dr. Julius No, an evil genius on SPECTRE's payroll. Dr. No, wishes to keep the location of his base of operations secret, and so orders Strangways to be eliminated, so that no one will catch wind of the radioactive stones and suspect anything suspicious on his island – which, to my mind, is akin to preventing people infiltrating Area 51 by having UFOs circling around the base keeping guard!!

Anyway, Dent orders his assassins to carry out the order. During a game of Bridge, three men, posing as blind beggars, (known only as "the three blind mice") silently approach Strangways. Strangways announces to his fellow card players that he needs to attend some official business, and heads off. He is completely unaware of the threat posed by the blind beggars, and even foes as far as dropping some change into the lead man's cup.

Strangways continues walking to his car only to be shot numerous times from behind by the Three Blind Mice and he is loaded into their hearse, as they drive off for their next assassination.

I recently heard from a somewhat reliable source that the mice are played by Eric Coverly, Henry Lopez, and Charles Edghell
