It is a post-apocalyptic and a dictatorial Mr President has risen to power. The titular Death Race was one of his master strokes, a form of neo-gladiatorial entertainment wherein the participants score not only on how quick they can complete each leg of the race, but how many innocent bystanders they can put between their grill and the finish line.
Although it's certainly popular, a small resistance movement is making efforts to stop it, headed by one Thomasina Paine and using her granddaughter, Annie "Smith" as a spy, acting as the navigator to the government's perennial entry, the 6-million dollar man of sorts, Frankenstein. Ironically enough however, one of the largest enemies of the Race is Frankenstein himself. (There's also an admission of how he's not really rebuilt, but engineered, but that's not so important.)
With the other racers being taken out by the Resistance, it's down to Frankenstein/Smith vs. "Machine Gun" Joe Viterbo and his navigator. Frankenstein must win this race, and (in a quick romantic scene) he explains his plan; a grenade, implanted in his right hand will be used to take out Mr. President, but only if Frankenstein can win and shake his hand. With the two teams so close in points and Viterbo so insistent on winning, Annie forces Frankenstein's hand - literally - throwing the grenade into Viterbo's car and taking him out for good.
This, of course, leaves Frankenstein needing a plan B. And so he crosses the finish line, winning the race and knife concealed, approaches Mr. President for the celebratory handshake. Grandma Paine is in the audience however, and takes her shot, bringing down the champion.
Removing his mask, it's revealed that it was Annie dressed as Frankenstein the whole time! The real Frankenstein suddenly appears behind the wheel of his car and ramming it into the platform, kills Mr President and succeeds where dozens of resistance members couldn't.
shouldn't this be seperated into two deaths?
I take your point, although i think in the near future i will write up a death from Frankenstein's perpective - which would have to go down as a "blaze of glory" death.
