Dr. Alfred Hathaway is the mad scientist commissioned by Durant to design the high-tech laser weapons he intends to sell to Neo-Nazi Perkins. During the film's climactic action sequence, when Darkman throws a proverbial wrench into Durant's scheme, the treacherous Perkins and his two skinhead bodyguards attempt to abscond with both the laser guns and the money intended as payment for them.

Seeing them, Hathaway shows his loyalty to Durant by grabbing a shotgun and blasting Perkins, calling him a "Nazi bastard." In retaliation, one of Perkins' bodyguards returns fire, hitting Hathaway in the upper chest, killing him instantly.
