Rudy is one of Robert G. Durant's gang members who participated in the brutal torture-murder of Dr. Peyton Westlake and the closest thing Durant has to a right-hand man. Rudy is the next-to-last member of the gang to be killed, and dies by the hand of his own friend Smiley, via some clever trickery by Darkman.

Following the orders of arch-villain Louis Strack Jr., Durant and his gang have followed Julie Hastings to Darkman's warehouse hideout. Rudy and Smiley(q.v.) enter the building armed with assault rifles but decide to split up, making it easier for Darkman to pick them off one at a time. Once alone, Rudy is captured by Darkman, who proceeds to gag Rudy with duct tape, bind his hands, and finally puts two of his “liquid skin” masks over Rudy’s face: one of Smiley, and one of Peyton Westlake.

With his hands tied, mouth gagged and bearing an uncanny resemblance to his friend, Rudy runs towards Smiley looking for help, but is knocked to the floor unconscious by the butt of Smiley’s rifle. Smiley removes the "Smiley" mask to find what appears to be Peyton Westlake beneath. When "Peyton" sits up suddenly, Smiley riddles him with bullets, killing him.

It is only when he removes the final mask that Smiley realises too late he has just murdered his friend.


On closer inspection, it was Rudy all along...Oops!
