Pauly is one of Robert G. Durant's gang members who participated in the brutal torture-murder of Dr. Peyton Westlake. He is the second member of the gang who Darkman goes after. Taking photographs of Pauly, Darkman uses his "liquid skin" to make a mask of Pauly’s face, which he then uses to impersonate Pauly and steal a bag of money from Durant's other gang members.
The real Pauly meanwhile has been asleep in his apartment following Darkman knocking him out with chloroform. To incriminate Pauly further, Darkman has put a plane ticket in a packed suitcase for the others to find. Darkman then just has to sit back and wait for Pauly to be killed by his associates in retaliation for the perceived rip-off.
Durant arrives at Pauly's apartment with gang member Rudy (q.v.), and they quickly find the cash and the plane ticket. Pauly proves unable to explain himself satisfactorily, using the only alibi he has; he has been asleep in bed all day. In response, Durant stuffs the plane ticket into Pauly's pocket and tells him, "Have a nice flight."

Pauly commits fashion suicide with a sky blue suit and pink shirt ensemble
Seconds later, Pauly is thrown from the window of the high-rise building, plunging at least twenty stories, where he lands on top of a parked car and is killed instantly.

Can you fly Pauly??? / I guess that is a "No"...
The Pauly that was at the pickup was it the real Pauly or was it not the real Pauly?
It was Darkman disguised as Pauly. The real Pauly was asleep in bed at home. THIS IS EXPLAINED IN THE DESCRIPTION.
RFOL!
Anyway, I caught Darkman on TV recently and I didn't like it all that much. It had a bit of a mean streak to it that I found quite comfortable. I don't think that has anything to do with body count - I watched Lucky Number Slevin and the deaths there reach double figures (like 15 or so...). But then again the assualt against Darkman near the start did leave me with a fairly sour taste in the mouth.
You found it quite comfortable or quite uncomfortable?
And as it turns out Paulie's last name was Muzzucatio or something according to the plane tickets.
Yeah, I recently discovered that he, Rick and Rudy have last names (Rick's can be seen on the plane ticket as well).
-Pauly Mazzuchelli
-Rick Anderson
-Rudy Guzman
As to the movie's "mean streak," it's fairly in-line with other flicks of this type (hero is brutally tortured by bad guys, comes back for revenge), such as The Crow and Robocop.
