Sometimes the person you want to kill just won't stand still, so you are forced to expend vast sums of your movie budget on a protracted chase scene.

The key psychological element for this category is that one of the protagonists is actively trying to flee from a confrontation. They may be doing this for practical reasons, or may simply be frightened. The point being that they have the feeling of being hunted prey.

Being chased by someone (or something) that means you harm is a somewhat primal fear, which is perhaps why it can be strangely satisfying to see it happen on the silver screen.
