Acid in films is very different to the stuff they let you play with at school. We still remember the keen disappointment we felt when we realised that no, we couldn't burn all the way to the centre of the earth by squirting a pipette of hydrochloric acid onto the desk. The cinema more than makes up for this though, by revelling in featuring acids that fall way off the pH scale, capable of melting your nose at fifty paces.
For our purposes, we consider acids, alkalis and any other nasty, corrosive cocktail of chemicals to be "acid" - Hollywood usually does after all.
